CLASSIC 2026
👋 Welcome
We are excited to welcome you to the 2026 Texas State Championship Road Races in Oatmeal, TX. This race attracts many participants and spectators from the local area and we like to leave a lasting positive impression on everyone attending.
In addition to the USA Cycling Rulebook (usacycling.org), you are responsible for reading and following the rules in this Technical Guide.
The following are of particular importance:
- Park only where indicated.
- Portable toilets and change tents are provided. Absolutely no public urination or uncovered changing is permitted.
- Helmets must be worn and secured at all times while on a bicycle.
📋 Registration
Online registration at bikereg.com/oatmeal-classic. Field sizes are limited to 100 riders (75 for all Novice categories).
- Riders must register for the category on their USA Cycling license — no category changes at the race.
- NO REFUNDS once registration closes. No rider substitutions or replacements.
- Only Men Novice, Women Novice & Masters Novice are eligible for one-day beginner licenses.
- All riders welcome to compete, but only annual Texas license holders are eligible for the Championship title.
🌐 Foreign Riders
All foreign riders must present an international race license in good standing and a Foreign Permission Letter from their national Federation permitting racing in the US on the event date.
The letter must address medical insurance coverage, OR state that the rider accepts full responsibility for all medical costs incurred at the event.
📦 Number Pickup
Registration and number pickup opens at 6:00 AM and closes 30 minutes before the start of each race at the Oatmeal Community Center.

🏆 Awards & Protests
All podium presentations will be held 30 minutes after the conclusion of each race wave.
💰 Prizes
Men's and Women's P/1/2 races compete for a $1,500 prize purse, paid to the top 3 finishers.

👔 Officials
🚦 Centerline Rule
All roads are open to traffic. Obey all police officer, official, and staff requests. If you cross the centerline, you will be disqualified. If no painted centerline exists, keep to the right at all times. The finish line will be open to full road use 1 KM to the finish.
🔢 Race Numbers
Each rider receives two (2) bib numbers — no frame number. One number along the side seam of the jersey, and the second on or above the jersey pocket. Both must be worn for all races.
🗺️ Course — Saturday Road Race (Clockwise)
Directions: From 183 and Hwy 29 (North of Austin) go west on Hwy 29, 14 miles to Bertram. Turn left (south) on FM 243 for 5 miles, then right into the parking area.
Parking: Park only in designated spaces. Follow the directions of volunteer parking attendants and drive with caution.
🔧 Wheel Support
All support follow vehicles are wheels in / wheels out — you only receive a wheel if you put one in. Vehicles may become neutral if there is a surplus of wheels. If you receive a spare during the race, you MUST return it immediately after.
- Drop off: Bring tagged spare wheels to the follow vehicles at least 30 minutes before your race.
- Pick up: Wheels returned to the start area — collect immediately after your race. Race organizers are not responsible for equipment left at the race.
